Why Datagma is tier 3–4 in Clay’s waterfall.

Position ≠ quality. Clay sorts by price first.

Clay’s waterfall algorithm tries providers in ascending order of cost per credit, not quality. That means lower-cost providers like basic finders go first. Datagma, priced at a premium tier, is called later, when the cheaper options have already failed.

The result: Datagma handles the hardest contacts, the ones no other provider could find. In Clay’s own benchmark, we still came out strong for email accuracy despite being called less frequently.

Tier 1–2
Cheaper providers
Called first. Low cost, lower accuracy on hard contacts.
Tier 3
Fallback layer
Called when tier 1-2 miss. Mid-tier accuracy.
Datagma
Tier 3–4
Premium layer
#1 accuracy. Finds what others can’t.

Being in tier 3–4 means you pay Datagma only when it matters, and when it does, it delivers.

Clay waterfall vs. Datagma direct.

Two ways to use the same data. One is significantly cheaper.

Via Clay waterfall

Datagma is called automatically when other providers fail. Zero extra setup, but Clay applies per-credit pricing on top of Datagma’s wholesale rate.

  • No extra integration
  • Seamless fallback in existing workflow
  • Clay markup on every Datagma credit
  • Called only after other providers fail
Best economics

Datagma API directly

Call Datagma first in your Clay workflow or via your own API. Same data, no markup. Full up to 93% accuracy on the first call.

  • No Clay credit markup
  • First-call accuracy, not just fallback
  • Flat monthly pricing, 10 seats included
  • WhatsApp number detection included

Pro tip: Many Clay power users add Datagma via HTTP in Clay for specific fields (EU phones, email verification) while keeping other providers for US data. Best of both worlds.
