Guide Prospecting B2B

How to build a B2B company list (by technology, funding, or industry) then enrich it at scale with the right decision-maker, verified email, and direct phone.

On this page

Working From a B2B Company List

This guide is about lists: what to do once you have a set of target accounts, and how to turn that raw company list into contactable decision-makers at scale.

If instead you’re looking at a single company and want to know who works there, that’s a different job, see how to find the employees of a company.

Where a B2B Company List Comes From

A good company list is usually built on a signal, not a directory dump:

  • Technology used : companies running a specific tool (BuiltWith, Wappalyzer)
  • Funding : companies that raised recently and are hiring
  • Industry and size : your ICP filters on professional social networks
  • Events : exhibitor and attendee lists from trade shows

In each of these companies, you need to identify specific people:

  • The CEO or founder
  • The Head of Sales or VP of Marketing
  • Anyone with a specific job title or seniority level

And once you’ve identified them, you need their contact details: email and direct phone number.

The old way: open each company’s page on a professional social network one by one, find the right person, look up their contact info. For 100 companies, that’s days of work.

The Datagma way: upload your company list, get back contact details for matching profiles, in under 2 minutes.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Prepare Your Company List

Create a CSV with at minimum:

  • Company name (required)
  • Company website domain (recommended for higher match rate)
  • Any additional context (country, industry)

Step 2: Upload to Datagma

  1. Log into app.datagma.com
  2. Go to File Upload → Company Enrichment mode
  3. Upload your CSV and map the company name/domain columns
  4. Select Find Employees enrichment option
  5. Set the job title filter: e.g., “CEO”, “Head of Sales”, “CTO”, “VP Marketing”
  6. Set the seniority filter if desired: C-level, VP, Director, Manager

Step 3: Receive Your Enriched File

Datagma processes your file and returns:

  • Name of the matching employee(s) at each company
  • Job title and seniority level
  • Professional profile URL
  • Verified email address
  • Direct mobile phone (if available)
  • Company firmographic data (headcount, industry, funding)

What If You Only Have Company Names?

No problem. Datagma can find the right contacts from just a company name + country:

  1. Upload your list with company name and country
  2. Datagma finds the company’s professional network page, website, and firmographic data
  3. Then identifies the right employees based on your title/seniority filter

The match rate is slightly lower than when using a website domain, but still effective for large-scale prospecting.

For ongoing workflows, use the API:

GET https://gateway.datagma.net/api/ingestion/v2/companyEnrich
  ?apiId=YOUR_KEY
  &domain=acmecorp.com
  &jobTitle=CEO

Returns the CEO’s name, professional profile URL, verified email, and phone.

Example Use Cases

Technology Partnerships

You’ve built a HubSpot integration. You want to find every company that uses HubSpot and identify their CTO or Head of Partnerships. Datagma can enrich a list of HubSpot users with the right decision-maker contacts.

Event-Based Outreach

You have a list of companies attending a trade show. You want to identify the most senior person from each company before the event so your team can prioritize outreach.

Competitive Win-Back

You have a list of companies using a competing product. You want to identify their VP of Sales or CTO for a targeted win-back campaign.

Pro Tips

  1. Be specific with your title filter : “Head of Sales” will return fewer, higher-quality results than “Sales”
  2. Use seniority filters : filter by C-level or VP if you only want decision-makers
  3. Enrich the company first : understanding a company’s size and funding stage helps you prioritize before running the employee search
